Wang Nuonuo is an up-and-coming representative female writer of the Chinese millennium generation. She graduated from Cambridge University with a Master degree in Environmental Economics, then worked for one of the internet giants in China. Nuonuo started writing columns and science fiction stories for Science Fiction World magazine since 2017, including “Return on a snowy night,” “The Earth is not Answering,” “Reformative Human,” “Full Data Era,” etc. She won the Best New writer award of Chinese SF Galaxy Award in 2018, and successively won Lenghu Science Fiction Award in 2018 and 2019. In 2021, Her work “Reformative Human” and “Why Do Cats Gather at Night” were published in Japan, and were included in the anthology Enigma SF. Also in 2021, Tor.com included two of her stories, “The Way Spring Arrives” and “Secrets of Mountains and Names” under the title The Way Spring Arrives and Other Stories.

“Into a Warm Cold Night” was originally published in Galaxy’s Edge Chinese Edition Vol. 2. It was the first prize winner of Lenghu Science Fiction Award in 2018. This story is as elaborate as a stage play, with all sorts of characters encountering each other in one dramatic scene, leading to intense plot conflict, in which the author creatively interweaves the past, the present, and the future of Lenghu Lake and the fates of all the Lenghu Lake people.
